Since Fay was still sick, I'd told her I'd make a run out to her new place with some supplies.
she's also buying a used monitor from Doug, So I figured I'd haul that too.
I as a bit worried because my stomach was a bit iffy when I went to bed last night. But it was ok when I got up.
I got myself fed and medicated, then went to the Albertsons to get the stuff Fay needed (toilet paper and kleenex-like substance). Found a good deal on the TP. 12 pack of MD for $4.99.
She'd asked for Puffs tissues with lotion. Single box was $1.99. 4 pack was $5.99. I texted her and she was ok with the 12 pack and the 4 pack.
Then it was back to the apartment to load the folding cart for the trip. And to rest up a bit before leaving (yes, I'm that out of shape).
I added some goodies for Fay, muffins, cookies and a couple cans of salmon. And my old-style fever thermometer (she didn't have one),
I tried to get clever and wait for a bus that the TriMet trip planner said would give me the shortest trip (68 min as opposed to 75 to 90). Of course, the first of the three buses was late. So I got to watch the second bus go by when I was still a couple blocks away (traffic was backed up that far at the traffic light).
So there was more of a wait for the next bus. Only a short wait for the third. Yes, it takes three buses to get there unless you are willing to walk a lot more than I want to.
Finally got there about an hour later than I'd expected.
I hadn't taken any water or the like with me because with the meds I'm on I need to pee way to often. Good thing. When Fay answered the door I needed her bathroom like *now*,
I unloaded things and Fay was pleased with most of it. She had trouble with the thermometer. Oy.
We hung out for a while I asked her a couple of times about installing the monitor (it's going to be a second monitor on her desktop setup) but she said she wasn't up to it.
Finally I got ready to leave because I did *not* wanted to get over into the "evening" schedule when the buses are a lot farther apart.
I love Fay like a sister, but there are time...
Y'see I was maybe a third of the way home when she started texting me about installing the monitor (it wasn't going well).
Finally had to wait until I was home and go into chat on the computer (her voice wasn't up to doing a voice call). We tried a bunch of things but it didn't work.
I was running out of spoons, so we left it for now.
Since the video is built-in, my guess is that we need to go into the BIOS to enable the DVI connector, But that's not something to talk someone thru over the phone. :-(
Oh well. She can hook it up to the VGA port for now and *still have a bigger screen than she's currently using.
