The revenge of Red Ken
I am back comrades after a bit of a hiatus I am here to discuss things communist and socialist with you and celebrate the inevitable and impending revolution. Of course there will be a lot of social stress and chaos and false consciousness first, but sooner or later Fox, CNN, NBC, and those capitalist running dogs at PBS will eventually fall apart under the weight of their own untenable ideas.
Wait a minute Red Ken, did you say PBS? Isn't that the very network that the Republicans seek to eliminate? Isn't NPR/PBS the very essence of socialist ideals with its allowance of foreign news services, its embrace of pure educational television, its carrying high quality documentaries, and its inclusion of independent films from culturally or economically diverse sources?
Forgive me comrades, I thought you wanted revolution, I did not know you wanted to be coddled by the apparatus of Neo-liberal policies and the beneficiary of globalist capitalist agricultural conglomerates. I had no idea you wanted to be coddled by such controlled contrived voices.
There are methods of self-opiation and false consciousness that are by nature, and probably not design or conspiracy (even the military industrial complex is not this clever), a means of distracting us from the obvious course of revolution. Think on it my friends, what does this isle of seeming sanity on the dial provide for its viewers and listeners other than a moments peace and repose. Surely they can seem factual and the tone is calmer for those of you that have tired of wild rants, chalkboard shenanigans, intense graphics, and the noise generally being louder than the signal.
But what of the cost my friends when potential communists merely melt away into quiet coffee house intellectual isolation and masturbation? When the idealism of youth and action is replaced by participating in fund drives and putting a “Current” bumper sticker on your Prius? By soliciting the very commodified lifestyle that accompanies this public radio subculture are we not merely slipping into the that old folk singer Phil Ochs lyrics?
And for all its seeming reason there are places that public radio and television refuse to go. Try to imagine a hard hitting assault on ADM or a documentary assailing the reputation and history of John Rockefeller. Try to imagine some voice on PBS calling for workers to unite and overthrow the yoke of the capitalist managerial class that dominates them.
Whatever absurd and asinine policy the republicans have in mind it will only accelerate inevitable socialist revolution. Considering public radio and television as one of many infrastructure programs available imagine what happens when it is gone. When there is nothing but corporate news and information available. Finally we will come to realize that none of our corporate masters are providing any version or vision of truth or real information and then the unthinkable will begin. We will begin dropping out.
When people realize all media is corrupt and all information is suspect they will be forced to evaluate economics more directly. When they realize that all media sources are the domain of the very corporations that seek to enslave they will seek out other answers; more radical and clearer answers. They will see the delusional American dream for what it is; a tool of false consciousness and national wish-making that seeks out a fantasy land of freedom from everything and everyone and near infinite wealth.
They will join us when they realize there is no mini utopian hide y-hole of quiet and rational moderate detachment for their consciousnesses. They will join us when they deny the lie that is wrapped around their heads and when counterculture comes with rejection of all things controlled by corporations.
So yes, I again applaud my stupid pawns in the Tea Party. Mangle MPR, crush the current, and plunder PBS. By all means stuff and mount Big Bird and force Burt and Ernie to prostitute themselves on network television. Make Nova have to play along with your stupid global warming denying fantasies. Make Nature have to cover creationist intelligent design drivel. Turn it all to for-profit and leave the people nowhere else to turn; my Comrades and I await them and the inevitable revolution with open arms.
npr,
red ken,
