Scandalous
(This is the Thank the Revolution It's Friday (TRIF) edition ЯЄd KЄЛ post. And yes, before anyone asks, I know the Cyrillic isn't proper-I choose it for letter shape, not for character sound. I am not now, nor have I ever been a member of the communist party. I am writing this to entertain and annoy and though some of the ideas here may be provocative they are not intended to incite a revolution. Do you hear me G-men of the world, I am not fomenting anything resembling a violent revolution… I will leave that to the radical right.)
How many of you like politicians? Well I have good news for you all because in the final stages of communism there will be no politicians left. Where have they all gone? How would they disappear and what does this mean? And how can there be so many party apparatchiks in the communist governments of today and yesterday if there aren't supposed to be communists?
Well, actually the answer to most of these questions is pretty obvious and it is something that the anarcho-syndicalists get right. In last stages of socialism before communism is attained the state acts as its own pallbearer and begins disassembling itself while helping the people stand up to form a direct democratic system. All matters of policy are voted on by the masses and all citizens become active in all civic matters and decisions. Property becomes irrelevant as everyone votes to assure all individuals get a fair share in society and production.
That is basically it.
So why is it that so many countries claim to be communist when clearly none of them are? Probably for the same reason some countries claim to be democratic republics while allowing near infinite bribery… err… campaign contributions or others use easily hack-able and corruptible electronic voting machines: Mythology. The myth of something is compelling and powerful and binding for a people. Think about it for a moment, if you were a communist (and you better be!) would you rather want to actually be The Peoples Communist Paradise of Freedonia or The Halfway Socialist Directive of Fenwick Currently in Reorganization?
Sure, one could argue that a country designation could represent our highest dreams and aspirations or that we could identify our hopes in what we call ourselves, but this is not honest, this is national spiritualism and superstition and both socialism and communism are materialist philosophies rooted in science and fact. Of course there could be some debate as to what is entailed in the concept of 'freedom' there should be no doubt that most of the elements of the bill of rights could easily be incorporated and expanded upon.
There is not a single nation on earth that could be reasonably considered a communist state. Not Cuba , not China , not Vietnam , and sure as hell not despotic North Korea . No, none of these countries are even close. North Korea seems to have always been either a puppet state or a disgusting dictatorship that as much resembles a monarchy as anything else. China has opened its way towards consumer capitalism with a bang and is currently enslaving its own populace to produce useless junk for the western capitalist states while enriching a plutocratic minority. They still cling to some illusion of being vaguely communist, but no one seems to realize that it is a myth. The great hope of Cuba has never been really socialist despite the laud it often receives from campus commies. It is more a semi-socialist state with a semi-benevolent dictator at the helm.
These leaders and the party elite under them form a barrier that, in the best of times actually are elected and in the worst just happen to be in power for as long as their greedy hypocritical little hands can cling to it. The former of course, while not being communism is infinitely preferable to the later. Who knows, the people might get strong enough and maybe the transition will occur as party people gradually lay down authority to the people. Sadly, the bureaucracy rarely surrenders its last breath quickly or easily and it is just as likely that the socialist states cling to their existence for as long as the state itself lasts.
Communism is not the same as libertarianism as the later is actually the latest (or earliest) in a long series of rationalizations for excessive greed and property. Libertarianism is an acceptable revolution for children raised republican who go off to school and decide they want to get in on the revolutionary political chic cult as well. Libertarians lie when they say they want a small weak state. What they actually want is a strong uncaring state that will protect the everliving hell out of their property rights but will be completely impassive to mans inhumanity to man. They want a government that will let you sell every manner of slow acting poison while laughing all the way to the bank and have little to no regulatory responsibility.
So even a libertarian hell would still have vermin like politicians, probably less busy, but still self aggrandizing and greedy as ever. Libertarians actually fear the masses considerably, as they seem to favor a version of liberty over democracy; a version that is obsessed with maximizing their own gain and shitting on those that have less and where you have little recourse to get what is owed back. Thankfully they are a rare and unlikable lot and, other than Tucker Carlson, most of them grow out of it eventually.
So yes, friends if you truly never want to have to worry about having elections again, and if the idea of embracing the idiotic religion of state worship does not appeal to you than stand up, you have little to lose save Diebolt and bad campaign commercials.
