I Think That Explains It...

Conversation I just had with a co-worker who's going a little bonkers trying to track down a bunch of assorted poems for a course reader with little to no bibliographic information provided by the professor.

Co-Worker: "One of these poems I'm trying to track down is titled, 'Suppose Your Father Were a Redbird'."
Me: "Well, that title doesn't sound like it should be too hard to track down."
Co-Worker: "That's not the issue. What I want to know is why someone would ever title a poem like that?"
Me: "Didn't Sylvia Plath give her poems a bunch of strange titles?"
Co-Worker: "Yes, but this isn't Sylvia Plath.  This is 1960's beat poetry."
Me (incredulous): "And you're still confused as to why someone would title it, 'Suppose Your Father Were a Redbird'?!"

Eh. It's one of those days, and it amused me.
