Whiplash

This morning has not gone well.  Just got into a car accident a few minutes before I arrived at work.

Got off freeway and began to head towards work. Stopped behind a car at a red light.  Glanced over at the lane next to me and suddenly, WHAM! The impact was strong enough to throw my car into the car ahead of me. It flung me forward, then slammed me back into my seat and headrest.  My back does not appreciate it, not one bit.

Thankfully the guy I'd hit first's question was "Did someone hit you?" - he told me he evidently heard the first impact before I hit him.  As for the car hitting me, turned out to be some 24-yr-old korean woman.  Not sure what caused her to hit me (I'd better not find out it was because she was talking on a cell phone...). Best as I can figure, the impact was likely somewhere between 5-10 mph.  More amazing to me is that none of the cars showed much, if any, damage aside from a scratch or two (the guys at Saturn deserve a hug - second time I've been rear-ended, and aside from minor scrapes the car has little to show for it). The steering feels a bit funny, so it's possible the car's alignment got thrown out of whack.  I hope like hell that nothing else was seriously screwed up where it's not immediately apparent.

My back is yelling at me, with a burning sensation in my lower left back going partly down my thigh. Right side of neck is tight, too, along with some light-headedness.  I'm guessing there's some whiplash... right now I'm at work... we'll see if things improve or get worse. Taken some Advil, that's helped relieve some of the burning sensation, though not all of it.  May head home early, we'll see how it goes.

Not how I wanted my weekend to go.  The thing that pisses me off the most is that my back was finally doing well these last few days, now THIS.  Overall though, I'm glad nothing more serious occurred. It's strange - it's been a couple hours since, and not all of the adrenaline has left my system yet.   Yeah, definitely not how I wanted to begin my Friday.
