A lot has been going on lately, some good and some bad. The good news is that I just got a promotion! I am now the Associate Registrar of Baker University's School of Professional and Graduate Studies :) I was surprised, since I didn't meet ANY of the requirements, but very pleased. I'd already been handling a lot of the Associate Registrar's duties, so there won't be too many changes for me other than supervising some of my coworkers. I'm going to have to go out and buy some nicer work clothes, though! Also, I start my first class for my MLA degree on Monday! My first two classes are going to be online, so that should be better for my schedule than having to physically go to classes (although the classes are held, oddly enough, in the same building I worked at when I was with Indymac Bank...which is right down the street from Baker). I am excited to start :)
On the bad side, our dishwasher is broken. We've been stretching out its life for awhile, but I think we're going to have to give up soon. The darn thing fills up with water randomly and for no reason. Even when we haven't even used the damn thing all day, sometimes we come home from work and it is full of water and has flooded the kitchen (our poor kitchen floor is starting to warp in a few places, which really sucks). So now we have to check it every few hours and set it to the drain cycle so it'll dump out the water it has accumulated. Argh.
Speaking of water everywhere, our lower level flooded again on Saturday (we had crazy rains). We spent a lot of time sucking up water with our small wet/dry vac and dumping it outside. We've already tried to fix the problem once, but apparently it didn't work so well. We'll have to try something else soon.
Also on the bad side, the Saturn is not doing well. Over the past several months it has occasionally not started, but if we tried and tried it would eventually start. This morning Chris got it to start, but when he came home from lunch it wouldn't start up again. I drove him to work and dropped him off (making both of us late), and then picked him up after work. We were planning on trying to get it started after work to drive it to the shop to get fixed, but it wouldn't start at all no matter what we did (including trying to jump it with the Outback). Argh. So it looks like we are down to one car until we can figure out a way to start it or decide to get it towed somewhere.
So there you go! That's been my life as of late.
