RIP Good Friend

I lost a good friend tonight,

I was there when he passed away. One of my oldest friends, we've known each other for many years. I think we met back in 1996 maybe it was 1997, 11 or 12 years is a long time. We hit it off instantly, we found ourselves spending alot of time together cycling. Together we rode all over Ontario, we rode 200, 300 and 400km rides together, off road, in the city and everywhere we could find. When you spend that much time together you really get to know them. We became good friends.

Over the years our relationship waned at times, but we always found each other again and we'd be back together sharing old memories. Over the last couple of years that relationship was neglected, we had become distant. The timing of my friends passing is strange, we had just hooked up last week for the first time in months, and again today. Its always sad to lose a
friend.

Over the next few days I'll be remembering all the good times we had together, all the hours we spent with each other. Tonight those good times ended. I'll miss that bike.

Good Bye to my Thin Blue Line bike, it met a tragic end today on the trails of the Don River. It wasn't a big hit that took my old friend out of commission, it was just another small bump on the trail. But that small bump was enough to crack my friend at the rear drive side dropout. It was
a fatal blow, I walked out of the forest carrying the body of my friend.

A decade of riding together, 20000kms on the road and in the woods of ontario. It was the first bike that I kept for more than a year, it served as an all purpose bike that I went everywhere with. 8 years later when I got a new bike the relationship did not quite materialize like it had with my Thin Blue Line. Tomorrow i will start stripping and cleaning its frame, and shortly after that I will turn it into wall art. I will always have the memories.
