"The only way to find true happiness is to risk being completely cut open."
Just great! I am forced to stay here in Pangasinan until Monday to houseandbabysit until mom arrives from her trip. Good thing I planned an unbore-me scheme--I brought with me Duran's Invisible Monster by Chuck Palahniuk. But the plan wasn't as good as I thought it would be. After the four-hour long trip, I already finsihed 90% of the book!
It's a cliche to go posting 'i lurve palahniuk. he's just amazing and all. he is my god'. Besides, the whole point of the book is that if you can't be beautiful, be invisible. Anyway, this is his second book I read after Survivor which is also an absolute wonder of the literary world. Oh boy he never fails to surprise me. If you have the paperback edition, page 169 will change your life. And all the rest will make you realize how stupid you are for not having a clue.
Anyway, one thing I learned from the book is about colors' relation to homosexuality. Okay, we know that rainbow represents the likes of Angela (the girl who puts the T in LGBT). But there's so much to that. There's a different color for the PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). If you are out, beware of colors and shapes. Green means you're a male prostitute. Brown means you're into bondage and discipline. Black triangles refer to the vagina and its hair. And there's so much more. Then at the last page of that chapter they explain felching. Oh the mixture of gross and excitement in me was overflowing. That whole chapter was my favorite part.
I'm looking forward to read Palahniuk's next book Diary, owned by Duran. Geez, I remember Rina told me not to read Palahniuk consecutively. Let's see what happens.
