my latest obsessions....

i'm starting my new job on monday at nascar technical institute. i have to say i'm excited but also a little nervous, but that's normal with any job or internship.

tray's surgery went well. he was really goofy the day he came home, but that was the medicine. other than that, he has been pretty normal, other than having his arm strapped to his stomach in a sling. stephanie came down on thursday, so it's been nice having her here.

i've pretty much been a hermit the past few days. i just haven't felt like seeing people...and when i have, they didn't feel like doing anything. so that makes for a pretty boring weekend, although mom & i went shopping on friday and had a great time.

we went to bath & body so i could pick up my check. i got to see lots of the girls i worked with, including marsha, who i absolutely love. i stopped in at modern spa to see jenny and drop off her check for her, then mom & i went to starbucks and chico's, where i got some amazing new stuff for work. even though i wouldn't normally shop there because most of their stuff is more "mature" than i would like, i found some really cute stuff.

after that we cashed my check, then came home and fixed dinner for everyone and just hung out.

today i woke up late and helped dad outside. we pulled nails out of some old boards and cut them up to use them for firewood. and we also worked with amos because he hasn't been listening well lately, so we put the shock collar on him and got his attention, and he acted like a little prince the rest of the day, other than headbutting me and almost breaking my jaw.

i bought a new Henri Bendel candle that i love, it's a pomegranate fragrance and it smells wonderful.

i talked to joanne today about doing a beach trip the last month of april at her parents condo at myrtle beach, which should be a blast. i know i'm looking forward to being at the beach with my friends and celebrating joanne & jimmy's wedding. so amanda & i have to figure out if we're going to bring people with us or just rent a one bedroom condo and share a bed...and if i know her, the more the merrier, so we'll probably end up with a 2 bedroom condo haha.

i've been pretty obsessed with music lately. specifically elvis presley, the zombies, etta james, otis redding, james brown, mae, panic at the disco, toby lightman, bonnie mckee, and the beatles...

this elvis obsession is a resurfacing thing because i remember being a little girl and watching elvis movies and thinking how great he was, but the rest of it is music i either hadn't heard before or didn't really listen to much...i guess i'm trying to branch out and broaden my horizons. i can't stand listening to the same things over and over. sad thing is, i have this damn ipod that holds 15,000 songs and my computer won't let me install the ipod or itunes on it...i don't know what's up with that, so we'll have to get the computer worked on. there's no point in having an ipod if you can't use it.

so yeah i've been kinda boring lately, but for once it's nice to hear the drama from other peoples' lives and realize that i don't have to deal with it because it's not mine.

it's a new year, time for a new attitude and a new mindframe. i don't make resolutions so you can kiss that goodbye, but each new brings with it new changes, some good and some bad, and as great as 2005 was, i can promise you 2006 will be even better. who knows, i might settle down and start to use some common sense ; )
