I love this. It's such a fun read, and your grasp of the character is perfect.

This He grabbed the boots with his free hand, an afterthought, ignoring a quickly stifled objection from the bed, and slipped silently out the door. is hysterical; I'm trying to imagine the very young wife trying to convince her husband that he didn't wear his boots home.

I can't wait to see more!

Just fabulous. Gad K, I'm reading Raptor by Gary Jennings right now, and this is just so much better. (I'm close to giving up on Raptor for a host of reasons.) Strong, evocative language, great voice for your narrator. Love it.

Well I went back and read it a second time and loved it just as much. John is as you say, a delicious cad. Not familiar with this character never having seen Torchwood, alas. Looking forward to more.

I love John fics and this was a cracker. Clothing is also one of my "things" and I really like the way you incorporate such rich descriptions of the clothes with the rest of the scene. Nicely done, thank you.
