Penang Trip Day 1 ~ Part 2

Jul 07, 2007 13:10

After eating the first dessert, Amaam drove us around. I discovered that Penang got lotsa one way road. Those who are not familiar with Penang road but wanna drive in Penang have to take note. Besides according to Amama, there are "no" traffic rules in Penang. So those Penang drivers are super scary. She herself is one of them. Hahaha...

She drove us to 旧关仔角, I only realised that i came here before when i was in standard six when i saw the canon in the park. I followed school trip that time.
We thought it's free of charge to go into the memorial park. But we saw a very funny notice at the entrance.
"Please do not take photo unless you buy a ticket"
Huh?? WTH.. who cares! I still took pictures. hahaha

Then, we headed to the 2nd hand book stores which Amama mentioned for a few times before. The book stores were at the 1st floor of an old building, where the ground floor is a wet market. It was the cleaning time when we went there. The bleach smell + offensive smell of fish made me felt like vomitting...hahaha

See!!! Soo many old books! Some are quite new in fact. But the prices are depend on the thickness and how new the book is. Also depends on the boss la!

Searching in two shops, i bought 4 books of "National Geographic", with a low price of RM 2 each. The normal price for a new National Geographic is RM 15 !!! Besides, i bought a novel with RM 4 too. Amama swept 10 books of medical journals, with RM 1 each. YL and Terri too, bought some magazines and novels! Still got so many books and magazines there!
Luckily we went to the second shop, as in the first shop, the boss gave a price of RM 5 for one National Geographic. Walao!! The ah pek wanna chop carrot ah? ( translated from Hokkien) Well, the next time to Penang still i want to go to this place! :)

Feeling hungry, we went to place outside Sunway Hotel where there are many stalls selling foods. Before that, we went into Sunway Hotel to meet her friends there. Last time she worked at the Matta Fair. Those ppl are her colleagues. Amama acted like the CEO of the Hotel, walked proudly inside. But 3 of us felt that we were like picikari-es followed behind the CEO. (p/s: Picikari means "beggar" in Tamil.)

See she was chatting with her friends happily. The right one is Annie, who is half year younger than Amama, but looked so much older! Wahahaha..
At the meanwhile, 3 of us stayed in the toilet, which are so comfortable. Washed our hands, washed our faces, and came out with clean, tidy face and hair. Hahaha...

Then we headed to the food street. I was hungry so i could eat anything. And i didnt crave for anything. So we just randomly picked any, and shared the food together.

This is fried Pork intestine porridge. Tasted quite nice. I didnt eat much cos busy eating the others. Hahaha

(L) Popiah and (R) Ji chiong Fan. These are those we could eat at normal time. But i like the popiah ! :)

Curry Mee !! See so many Pork blood cube! I love it ! I think they put a lot of milk in the curry

Fried Oysters !!! YL and Terri's favourite. This place got the most number of oysters. The sticky-ness of flour and the fried eggs are just nice! The other place of fried oysters that we ordered later got lesser oysters

Fried Kuey Teow !!!! This is so tasty! The whitish-santan-looked things are actually crab meat. See how big the prawns are?? Haha, not really very big la! but quite ok too! The prawns are very fresh, when i bit it, it was like bouncing in my mouth !!

Ice Kacang and red bean soup !!! We loved the Ice kacang, there was a Sarsi taste in it, which cause it tasted very cooling. The combination of ice cream and all the ingredients is superb! :)

I didn't feel very full after eating all of these, but just nice! We went back to Sunway Hotel again, washed our hands. Again Amama chatted with her friends, and we stayed in toilet. Hahahaha...

Fresh look after came out from wash room! haha..

Rested for a while, we headed to 旧关仔角 and 新关仔角 (Gurney Drive) to see the night view of the seaside.

Too bad some of the pictures are not clear.

Later on, we met up with Amama's good friend, Brian. We decided to make a visit to Brian's place as Amama didnt visit his parents for a long time. Brian's father and mother are very friendly. The father is very humourous. As we were talking about the crime rate in JB is very high, he told us about his stories last time how he swept off all the drug addicts and how he whacked them. Hehe. We chatted for a long time in his house.

There was a cat, named Blondy. She is the queen in the house. She slept in the living room every night, on a small table. There is a fan purposely for her, switched on 24 hours. Normally if got visitors came to the house, she would run into the room. But when she likes those people, she would stay in the living room. That night, she stayed in the living room for the whole night when we were there.

She sat in front of me for the whole night. Brian's father said it's because she liked me. Wahaha...OMG! I even attracted cat !

Went out for Sup Kambing with Brian too. But the soup was quite diluted. Actually they wanted me to eat Sup Turpedo, but finished already. :)
Terri and YL had Soup Perut.

I stayed in the same hotel during the last 2 times i came to Penang . Continental Hotel.

The night was actually still young, but we were exhausted already. So we decided to go back and sleep!!!

To be continue...

penang, trip, food
