Catching up on a crazy period

I've been lax about my updates recently, with good reason.  My life has been more than a little busy, focusing on a good mix of work and personal life.  For those who haven't heard, the big news is that I finally adopted a cat.  Something I've been talking about for years, I finally settled my life down to the point where I felt justified in bringing a cat home to live with me.  A beautiful female orange tabby, she's a complete cuddle-bug and social lover.  With a purr that can be heard from a room away, she's become a very welcome addition to my house.  For now, I've resorted to naming her "Lass" since she doesn't seem to respond to anything else. ;-)

Beyond that, between soccer and the basic necessities of life, I haven't been up to much.  Some gaming has been in order (I've re-installed both Homeworld 2 and Escape Velocity: Nova) while I await the parts to build the new computer.  Soccer continues to go well, with the company team still searching for their first win and Cats continuing to dominate this season.  Cats has decided to switch leagues for this coming season in the hopes of finding better refs and fields.  We'll see what happens.

Chelsea came home for a good part of the last week of January, making her current absence keenly felt.  I've been trying to find a way to disappear over there for a weekend, but it's tough to do with the passes closed 4 days out of 7.  ALL of the passes, from Stevens down through White.  Much as I love her, driving for 12+ hours each way is not an economical way to spend time together.  I just need science to come up with a faster mode of transportation (teleporters would be ideal, but even reliable anti-gravity drives would be acceptable).  Beyond that though, things are still great and moving along just how I could desire.

Work is, well, work.  And there's been a lot of it recently.  My calendar has been filled with meetings and my inbox stuffed with project requests.  So many that I've been pushing back on a number of the requests stating that I don't have time currently.  Being able to work from home is a boon, but I can't wait until I can negotiate for a raise.  Not to sound overly self-assured, but I feel I warrant something for the efforts I've put in so far.  Thankfully my boss seems receptive of the idea and appreciative of what I've done.  Enjoyable.

Current plans:
Start working on my fencing form a bit (I'm well out of practice).
Continue gaming a bit more (forgotten how much it can calm/center me).
Spend time talking to Chelsea as often as possible.
Play with the cat.
Continue kicking the ball around the field.
Put together plans and alternates for Cabaret.

This is my life these days.  Broken down into lists of what I want to do and what needs doing.  All too often they're not the same.  I need a break, thankfully provided by the upcoming three-day weekend.  Just wish I was spending it some way other than watching my folk's cat.
