they didn't make a 327 after the 70's...from what i understand, this was a 327 that had origionally came out of a camaro or similar sports car, i spun a bearing in my 305 that came with the truck origionally so i bought the 327 for about $350 and threw her in...ran like a dream...very quick and dependable.
the good thing about the 327's is that they have super thick cylinder walls, so you can bore em out like 30 over and still have meat to rebuild em a few times....very hot item in the amatuer stock car racers
i ride a yz426...got it just before thanksgiving...actually traded that pickup for it wanted to get some winter riding in this year but there are to many things that need to be done
they were usually show truck from what i understand...smaller mirrors, v6's and light duty tranny's and 2 wheel drive...pretty much a fullsize version of an s-10. mine was special ordered because it came with the v8, a heavyer duty tranny, 4x4,and a stepside with a wooden bed...super sweet...it was perfect for a dune truck which is why i was sad to see it go only had 90 some thousand miles on it and it was an 86...and i proabably put half those miles on it in the 5 years i owned it....
Well, I inherited a 1977 F100 for christmas. I'll probly fix it up, it needs a major tune up. I'm kind of hoping that I'll fix it up, then my dad will keep it as 'his' truck. It's only got some 126,000 miles on it. It's also 2WD and an automatic, pretty much the opposite of what I'd wanted. But hey, a free truck is a free truck. As of now it doesn't run, but for around $300 it'l be good as new.
i just sold my '86 scottsdale pickup, it had a 327 in it and i miss that motor severly...very quick...
