he really was a terrible man, but lucky for her she could see through it all, she cared little enough to see through it all. he sat insecurely, ostensibly complacent and nonchalant, pretending to make such sacrifices to eke the smallest words of affection, words that would be said by anyone else with the ease of truth, devotion- but he said them with an ease of emptiness! was it not plain for anyone else to see?? did he think it was not so obvious?? what upper hand did he think he had? he simply did not love her. who was he trying to fool... the bastard.
