Hard at Work

I'm at work right now "maning the front desk," which means sitting here, and answering the phone if it rings. I hope it doesn't, it makes me nervous. Today I failed, and I mean FAILED, a lit trad quiz, but I am so relieved it's over that I haven't really thought about. I just hope my teacher doesn't think I didn't read, because I did, and I'm in love with him. I want to make love with his intellect. Today his class was slightly less interesting then usual, which means that it was still amazing. At then end though, he said the most amazing things about faith. He said as a Buddhist, he is often asked if he thinks Christ is true. He said yes- but not in the same way Christians do. He thinks that he was a Divine manifestation of God, but that God is not only manifested through one source. Fascinating. He also believes that every person is an incarnation of God, thus giving us the responsibility to reach our potential of being God-like. He also brought up a question that has never even crossed my mind. Did God change with the crucixion? Meaning, did He more fully understand human death after witnessing the suffering and death of His only Son? I don't even know what I believe at all, and I hope to find it, but each day, whether he touches on religion or not (although he usually does), I feel changed. The class drives me to find what it is I believe. How do you become as insightful as he is? I loved they way he talked about enviromentalism, that Christians rarely address this issue. God gave us the Earth. It is in no way ours to rip apart for our own pleasure. I find that something that frusterates me with conservative Christians in general is their approach to nature and the enviroment. Many claim to care about it, but in reality approach it as a non-issue. They seem to think (this is a generalization obviously) that if you care about the enviroment, or God forbid animals, that this diminishes the love and respect you have for other people. This could not be farther from the truth. First of all, we have unlimited love given to us. There is no love limit- "Oops sorry hon, I loved my friend too much today to love you also. Check back tomorrow." No. Secondly, the earth and animals give us sustenance, Nature is the root of our physical survival. To not respect and care for it is to not respect and care for humans, and to disregard the gift given us by God.
