Doesn't Mt. Rainier look super-imposed in this picture?

We got really lucky with the weather...I know that Seattle has been in the midst of a heatwave for the past couple weeks, but the weather was fantastic the whole time we were out there.  Thursday when we arrived, it was hazy and not too clear, but all the rest of the days were much better.  The above picture was taken Saturday (morning, I think).

Friday we took a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island.

Seattle from Bainbridge Island

probably my favorite picture from the trip

We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island, then wandered around for a bit.  Once in the little downtown area, we decided we were hungry so we stopped at this little bistro type place called Winslow Way Cafe.  The food was good, but the steamers that we ordered as an appetizer were a bit too garlic-y.  Bill and I split a sausage/olive pizza that was good, but not anything to write home about.  I did manage to find a yarn store there, so I stopped and oogled all the wonderful yarn that they had.  There was some lace weight nubby silk that I would have loved to buy if I was employed, but alas, it was not to be.  I wish I could remember the brand, because it was one I hadn't ever seen before.

After exploring a bit, we wandered back to the ferry terminal and grabbed the next ferry back to Seattle.
