Wow, it only took me four months to post up a review of the first episode of season four. Please comment, it gives me motivation to write these and eventually post them up, I know that they are incredibly late and nobody cares anymore but any comment is much appreciated!
Ah, Supernatural. How I've missed you! I thought this episode was better than the season three premiere, which didn't have as much momentum obviously. The comedy just worked in this episode, they always try to put a joke or two in almost every episode but everything clicked so well in Lazarus Rising. I really missed the boys' chemistry with each other. Dear Lord, Jared is absolutely massive. He could become a professional wrestler. He makes Jensen look small and is Jensen not 6'1? My sister and I have a joke: I'll ask "Why does Jared never eat on Supernatural?" and then my sister will respond "Because he only eats steroids." Ha! It's just a joke though, I would never expect him or Tom to do that. Now, I am Catholic, actually I have recently been going to church again after a few years off because of school and stress. Lame excuses I know. I think it's cool that SPN is finally dealing with angels and Lucifer, I kept asking myself if and when they would tackle these fascinating, albeit obvious characters in the program. Religious storylines do make me a little nervous usually but SPN has done an interesting job so far. I may be a little annoyed if they say that God does not exist but if Castiel is a fraud in the end, then that's okay. I'm quite liberal and it's the writers' choice. As Tariel mentioned, this storyline is going to cause much debate, which is neat. Oh, did anyone see any Jared at Eyecon videos on youtube? He said both he and Jensen didn't like Houses of the Holy at first because they didn't want to offend anyone. Awww, sensitive boys. Neither of them are religious though right?
My thoughts on the new character of Castiel is that he may be lying...I think he is a fallen angel since the demons in SPN were never angels, as written in the Bible and Paradise Lost. Ruby said they were all human once. And he has dark wings...creepy. So, he may turn out not to be angelic at all. Hmm...maybe he's trying to establish a new order? Okay, no more speculating! I think the Old Testament angel is the only way to go for a show like Supernatural. It can't be a genteel angel because people would just ask "Why is he just sitting around and telling Dean that everything will be okay?" I've only seen AYTG? IMDW, but he already threatened Dean. I want to see Castiel with a flaming sword! How sweet would that be? Constantine and Frailty are films that deal with angels and demons as well if anyone is interested. I liked the psychic as well, she was so flirty! I felt so bad for Pamela when she lost her eyes, although that may be a reference to the seer Tiresias. I thought the new girl was Sam's new fling/girlfriend. See, I really don't think things through. I did like the scene where they say an awkward goodbye at the beginning, it was like a scene out of a romantic comedy. You would think it would be out of place but Jared sold it. I liked Katie as well, she just looked mean. The new girl had a little bit of edge in her last scene with Sammy but otherwise, the character has been revamped a bit and seems softer. What were they doing for those four months? I am a guy so I will say that I find her attractive, although that doesn't mean I think her acting is quite up to par yet. Hopefully, she'll learn from Jared and eventually Jensen possibly. Great start to the new season, I am looking forward to watching the storylines unfold!
P.S: I love the new promotional photos of Jared and Jensen! Jared has beautiful hair as shown above, not that Jensen is anything to scoff at. Darn it Tom! Why do you not promote Smallville for the fans at least? You're too beautiful not to.
