Shooting Dexter and Elisabeth in Kyoto

I have always found shooting in Japan a challenge but yet I love the country quite a bit. I love it for its culture and uniqueness, for its fashion and food. However, to do a wedding shoot in Kyoto does present itself a number of challenges. For one, there is a language barrier. The japanese speak very little English (even less than the french)/ Though they are polite and helpful, very often they are also pretty shy people. Hence, even if they can speak some english, they might just refuse to, for fear of getting it wrong. Secondly, all the signs are in Japanese (and its really hard to remember the names). Most temples and shrines won't allow hugs or kisses so no such poses within the compound!

Other than that...Japans a really nice place to shoot. Its got quite a  wide variety of places to shoot.

The shoot with Dexter and Elisabeth got off to a flase start on the first day. At the Inari Shrines (Its really lovely!), we were stopped and apparently, we can't shoot there in a wedding gown. But hey...I've been refused countless times...so no worries there, we headed off to our next destination and in Kyoto, there were a number of places to shoot!

The couple's an amazing pair and I am really thankful for being able to work with them and for them to be my friends.

Here are some of the shots taken in Kyoto. I have also started working more on textures on my images.

This first shot is not taken by me. Its by Jesh De Rox and i fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I have always wanted to try something similar... and the following two shots are my feable attempt...

Thats the lovely Chie, our makeup artist. She was our guide, translator and makeup artist all rolled into one. I think she did a great job and her attitude and service was impeccable. We were very very fortunate to have her.
