day one
i started accutane (or, more accurately, amnesteem) last night. i'm going to track my progress here. skip it if you want - it's really for my own use.
so anyway, even getting my mitts on the drug was a huge ordeal. there's a workbook with three consent forms, a pregnancy test, bloodwork, a follow-up dermatologist appointment, another pregnancy test, an online quiz, and finally the prescription. repeat monthly for five months.
in addition to not being allowed to get pregnant while on the drug, i'm also not allowed to drive at night or drink alcohol.
the amnesteem boxes are huge. every piece of literature inside and each of the pills are labeled with pregnant women silhouettes with big red X's through them. no flipper babies! you have to peel no fewer than three layers of foil to get the pill out, so you can't accidentally mistake it for a benadryl.
i took 20mg last night and 40 this morning. so far i haven't noticed any side effects except for a mild headache this morning and dry eyes.
i have pain killers, moisturizer, medicated lip ointment, SPF 70 sunscreen, and cetaphil at the ready.
eta: the headache is gone but now my mouth is incredibly dry and i feel kinda fuzzy. HMMMM.
