I really can't believe I forgot to post this. Okay so Saturday Jess and I were making our way from the lovely Stockton to her grandmother's house in Mobile. Well as we were getting off of airport blvd. we look over to our left on the ramp and a car has flipped over! It must have just happened because we were about the second people there. We pulled the car over, got out, and ran over to see what we could do. Oh my goodness it was one of the scariest moments of my life. The car (Isuzu Rodeo) had been coming to fast up the exit ramp... lost control because the ramps were wet and their tires were bad, had turned completely in the wrong direction and flipped over the guard rails. The car was sitting upside down... on one side of it was the guard rails... and the other side was a down hill slope. To make matters worse... there was a woman trapped in it. Her leg was wedged in the car and trapped by the guard rail. You could see she was bleeding terribly and going in and out of consciousness. There was about 5 of us who tried to pull the guard rail loose from the car... but she was still trapped. We all felt so helpless because we knew we couldn't get in there and do anything because we didn't want to paralyze her. So Jess and i just stood there and prayed that God would protect this woman. About that time the paramedics and fire trucks got there. They got the woman out and it looked like she would be okay because we could see she was moving. The weirdest thing was, the guy that was driving the car was completely fine. He had crawled out and was just standing there in shock... no cuts, breaks or bruises. I have never been so close to the scene of an accident. I felt so helpless...
Okay so now for something a little more positive. I just wanted to share a little bit of what God is teaching me right now. I am doing this Bible Study called "Abandoning yourself to the greatest romance of your life…” It really is about learning about God's love for us and falling more and more in love with Him. I am really enjoying it. An analogy that was in the book that i just loved was this: How many of you have ever fallen in love with someone… or just really liked someone? Describe what it felt like? How did it feel when you were around them? What did it feel like when you were away from them? Now think about this… that is how our God feels about you! Our God, the creator of the universe… gets butterflies and so excited when we spend time with Him. He longs for us when we are away from Him. Isaiah 62:5b says: “as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.” OUR relationship with the Lord is supposed to be like that of a bride and groom. THAT’S how Jesus wants us to feel about Him. To have butterflies and be all excited when we are able to spend time with Him. To be daydreaming about Him in our spare time. To not be able to wait until that one day where we will finally be with Him for eternity. I know that many have heard this before but it's just so neat that even after you hear things 1,000 times it finally just hits home with you. Man, the Lord is so incredible!
