Tuscania!

Ciao, Tuscania, Italy!

Not very surprising, but its absolutely gorgeous here! :) Definitely a smaller town, and I think that adds to its charm. It doesn't have the hustle and bustle of places like Rome and Florence - and I like that! You don't feel like you're falling into a tourist trap or something... Most people don't speak any English though so... time to learn Italian!

Anyways,

I'm staying at a BnB on a farm that's like.. 15 minutes max away from the school's campus in Tuscania. It's beautiful - there's horses here, as well as duckies, chickens, dogs, and a goat with a large cow bell around its neck. The other students give us a hard time about our BnB since we have a kitchen and its large and on a farm. But, we are the farthest away (only 3 of us staying here) and the rest are (the 9 others) are all in the same BnB within the city walls (really old, high stone walls) that's a 3 minute walk to school and everything else.

My roommate's name is Jackie, and she is from Honolulu, Hawai'i. We joke that we were meant to be roommates to represent the far west coast! Especially since most people here are from the East coast...

Already had some gelato (yoghurt- one of my favourite flavors since the last time I was in Italy...) and the first dinner they fed us was Gnocchi (the like..best pasta dish ever)!

Of course, its very hot, and I'm having difficulties adjusting. It'll be interesting when we start going to the dig site (starting next Thursday) and see how we all cope with the heat then.

Like I said earlier on fb, I don't have much access to internet here, but I'll try to update as much as possible!

Love,

Caroline

PS:
You can text my iPhone, and it won't cost me anything... just whatever my plan covers, which is unlimited text, which equals zero dollars. Yay AT&T!
