I have been very busy of late. I apologize to everybody that I should have caught up with for a coffee etc. I had just moved into my new flat and was still organizing 'life, the universe and everything' when I was asked to make a wedding dress in under five weeks. First week was spent in procuring materials, drafting corselet pattern, and planning the design, second making the corselet, third fitting the paper pattern (so much less time needed using that method), fourth and fifth week working on the dress itself. Everything was made to measure and worked out beautifully. The wedding was held on Saturday, the 11th of Oct. I had the dress done on Fri night, everything we had planned. However, playing with scraps of lace is a very bad idea... We found the perfect way to finish off the entire dress around 9:30pm. Of course, we were 6cm short of the ever so important lace. The next morning, we were parked outside of Grace & Lace (WONDERFUL PEOPLE) at 9:27am. They opened the doors at 9:29, and we were in and out by 9:33 with The Lace. The wedding was scheduled for 4pm. I finished the false front and the lace and had it attached to the dress by 2:40pm. After getting the bride dressed and into the wedding car, we followed after locking up. Then the ceremony, which went well. Then pictures, and after that I promptly had a glass of bubbly. Dear Lord, was it a trip to get all of this done. But we pulled it off.
This week just passed was spent in sleep, laundry, and paid work (both for the bureau and a different weddings bridesmaid dress).
So, coffee anybody?
