Daytime astronomy

I don't often repost/link to items from K² Ramblings in here, but this is just too cool. I succeeded in spotting the planet Venus in broad daylight at lunch today!

Steps:
  1. Figure out where Venus is in relation to something you can see easily (I used the moon and their relative positions from last night).
  2. Stand in the shadow of a building and let your eyes adjust.
  3. Start scanning the sky in the area.

Of course, it helps that Venus is about as far from the sun as it can get (from Earth's POV) right now. I found a site with more detailed directions and a photo.
