What were you saying about David Bowie?

My face is numb. And my jaw hurts. Is that an oxymoron?

Anyway, my issues with dentists and other doctors who can't do things correctly the first time weren't the point of this entry.

Instead: boy, work, and Boppy, but not necessarily in that order.

So I have the cutest niece in the world (as you can see from the entry below). I got to hang out and be the coolest aunt for a few days over the 4th. She pretty much loves me and wanted to come home with me. How cute is that? She's hilarious and continuing to learn more and more and talk more and more and get sillier and sillier as the days go by. I can't wait to go back up and see her.

Work. I have been working a lot. I can't wait for Tina to leave. So I gossiped with Jennifer and found out a few of the issues the store is having. Two of the GSTLs are leaving and they have yet to find replacements or even potential replacements. The next few months should be interesting. Connie and Leslie are staying, thank Frith. We were without a STL for a while, but now it's some Asian guy named Johnny, I think. Jennifer is desperately hoping I'll start training at the service desk because she likes to talk to me and they are desperately in need of people to work over there. Apparently, there has been talks of hiring people straight to the service desk. Issues? Tons. First of all, in their training, they will have to be trained the cashiering screen as well as the service screen. So basically they'd be forced to learn two things at once, and that can be very overwhelming when first starting out. But there aren't enough competent cashiers to move over to service desk. So, yeah, issues. Anyway, I went to a "chat session" yesterday. It was interesting. I went in, clocked in, walked out the door to go get on a lane and Phyllis and Tina were out there trying to find a cashier to do the chat session and Tina volunteered me. Basically, Target (as a corporation) has it's shit together. They have monthly chat sessions (with the day team, overnight team, and team leads) and basically get people from every department (even us lame-o cashiers) and ask them what is working and what isn't work for them. And basically they just take any kind of feedback. No wonder the stores are always so damn organized. They actually listen to what the employees say, imagine that one.

Oh, and Saturday I got hit on by a 6 year old. Haha, I was extremely flattered. This kid comes through with his parents and he said "I like the pretty girl!" and the mom goes "who?" and he points at me and *yells* it. There were people in other lanes laughing. I was so embarrassed. Anyway, so the dad kept egging him on (and he also felt the need to tell me that the kid wasn't shy -- ya think?) and the kid kept saying stuff about me and to me and then the mom goes "I think she's too old for you." Anyway, they got done and were leaving and the kid said bye and the mom goes "Pray for me when he's a teenager." And I laughed. At least she has a sense of humor about it.

Okay, so, final topic. Boy. So I went on a date Saturday evening. With another guy I met online. Except this one went much better. In fact, it was really really great. His name is Kerry and he drove down from Wood River (that's about a 40 minute drive) just to meet me and hang out. We met at Steak N Shake, had dinner, and then were going to see a movie, but there isn't shit playing, so we went mini golfing at Centerfield. That's actually a really nice place. We played the 18 hole Castle Course. And I sucked horribly, and he kicked my butt (but he seemed pleased about). I got a 67 when it was a par 39. Wow, I suck. He got a hole in one on the second or third hole even (of course, the holes were really short, but still, a hole in one!). So we got done with that and wandered through the arcade (because he's into old school video games -- he was ranked like 5th in the nation in Pacman, it's cute). They didn't have any good games, and the air hockey table was out of order (now, I woulda kicked his ass at that), but we played some weird ass shuffleboard bowling game.

Then we decided to walk across the field and get Hawaiian Shaved Ice. I got a "Volcano Lava" which is black cherry and orange, pretty good. Except it was really juicy and not so ice-y. But then we sat on the benches across from the batting cages and laughed at the people hitting. There was this kid who couldn't have been more than 14 hitting in the 80mph cage and kicking some ass. He made it look so easy, and then a thirtysomething guy went in and whiffed like crazy. And all the guys taking their girls to the softball cages...I've never seen more girls hit like, well, girls. It was sad and pathetic.

But overall the date was probably the best I've ever had. He's really nice and easy to talk to. Funny, smart, seems to know what he likes/wants. He's got a degree in accounting and then realized he hated accounting, but took enough business classes to learn how to run his own and he's going back to school for pharmacy. And he garnered MAJOR points by paying for everything. Seriously. I almost felt bad, but I kept offering and he said no. By the end of the night he probably spent $35. On top of driving the 40 minutes both ways. And...he's pretty damn good looking. And he's into me too. So that's like.....amazingly awesome. We're a bit of opposites, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hindering in getting to know each other. We talked (and he said some things to me that nobody has ever said before -- I was blushing like crazy) and hopefully we'll be able to do something again next week. I'm excited and I can't wait.

Okay, so....I don't even know what else to talk about because I have no life. The Franklin, Illinois fireworks show is rather mediocre, but considering Franklin is a town of 600 it's pretty damn good. Payday on Friday and I can hardly wait. I need the money.

Dog training school is going well. I got 100% on the test for the second stage, so yay for me. As of now, I'm definitely in the running for the honors program (but seriously, it shouldn't be that hard for anybody).

I have a ton of shit I need to do for SLU, but I have no desire whatsoever to do any of it. Imagine that one. I'm about thisclose to saying fuck SLU and going up to SIUE to see what it would take to get things going there. But I already put $200 of my own freakin' money into SLU so whatever.

I finally watched Ice Age 2. It was cute, but the first one was definitely better. My dad seemed to enjoy it though, and he's looking forward to watching the first one. We ate a DiGiorno (or however it's spelled) square pizza the other night for dinner. And it was absolutely delicious.

I'm starving but I still can't feel my freaking mouth therefore eating is a huge pain in the ass. *grumbles*

I suppose that's enough for now. Standoff has 2 episodes left! Watch Fridays at 9/8c on Fox. And Drive is (read: might be) coming back next week for the final episodes. Burn Notice is on USA on Thursdays. Army Wives is on Lifetime all the time, but new episodes on Sundays. And I'm somewhat surprised that there's more TV on than I usually watch during the summer.
