Hello boys and girls!
Resistance?
It seems at time to be all around us and I think that is why I decided to tackle the resistance practice ourlined in the yoga book. Yoga is something I have chosed to dedicate more time than normal to this coming year. It does not seem hard seeing how yoga is now 'pop culture' but for me it has always been a nice way to start the day. Start the day with movement in the body and accomplishment in the mind. Sometimes however it is frusteration and pain that I greet the morning with. Warrior pose has always provided me with the greatest resistance, but after reading an article warrior pose is the pose that is the hardest for most to master. The article said to recognize the resistance it, give it attention, and focus on the relief that is felt when you can come out of the pose. This really helped in overcoming resistance in warrior and I noticed that once I acknowledged that pose as being hard and difficult instead of just feeling the pose, I found that my warrior was less difficult and I naturally fell into better alignment and I found it easier to hold it. Now when in morning practice when warrior is upon me I smile and slowly sink into the sensations and breath into the resistance and slowly I let it go. All that I have learnt through warrior, I need to apply to life when I feel resistance. When I feel resistance with friends, with roommates, with family, with homework, with work, with transit, as you can tell resistance comes into my life a lot and when I remember to breath and acknowledge it, the resistance barely hinders my flow and this is the proof that I need to recognize and move past it. I look forward to working on the resistance pose and will be taking a situation where I feel resistance into meditation with me so as to find ways to better overcome resistance.
It is late, 1:10 am late, yet I have just done a resistance practice, have The Waillin' Jennys playing and warm fresh bread on the counter. Tomorrow is going to be a fabulous day, one full of surprises, first times and resistance. I say "bring it on".
Peace
