30 Day Music Meme [Day 19]

Mar 10, 2011 00:33

Yesterday was actually a really great one, albeit long - I mean, it's 12:19 a.m. and I'm still up (figured I might as well post day 19's song since I was here). I had a really great class on obituary writing (morbid, I know), and then came back to res to find some nasty message on formspring because apparently I "lack fucking sympathy" and act like I'm above everyone. Whatever, haters gon' hate. I humoured them and engaged them in an open dialogue but they were more interested in basically telling me they never wanted to be friends again, but never made an effort to tell me this to my face or identify themselves in any way.

Brave, I know.

Anyway, went out for dinner with a motley crew - Carolyn, Ashley, Alton, Graeme, Robert, and Chelsea - around 5ish, returned around 6:30ish, hung out in the lounge for a bit, and went to ILLC's open mic night with Carolyn, Ashley, and Brian. Nick and Harry, the two guys we'd went to see, were super funny and super great - so much love for them; they have such incredible talent. Anyway, we left there and got cheap Hagen Daaz ice cream at Metro (on sale for half the price - score!) and ate it all back at res while talking to Bree about what being in the theatre program is like. And scored a free ticket to the choreography show for the Ryerson dancers - given how much I like dance, you can bet your bottom dollar I was fucking excited! Can't wait!!1one!!eleventy!!!

At any rate, today's song is one from my favourite album. One would assume that John Mayer's concert album would be my go-to, but it's tied with Maroon 5's new album. So you get two songs today!

Day 19: A song from my favourite album

Belief is my second favourite song on Mayer's concert album - my ultimate favourite is Slow Dancing, obviously. At any rate, the best part of it is the guitar riff right near the end-ish. It just, to be cliche, gets its claws right in me. It's one of those musical moments where you feel like you're a part of the song, and you don't want it to end.

Stutter is my second favourite song off of the Hands All Over album - first is Runaway, obviously, and third is How. Since I featured both earlier in the meme, this one seemed like a good stand-in for the album. It's so peppy and sexy and I just can't get over Adam Levine's vocals. He is, like, the ruler of my soul.

At any rate, it also perfectly describes a situation in one of my upcoming stories, and every time I listen to it I think of my characters (but that happens with a lot of the songs I listen to, lately).
