spelling bee!
Today I learned that I have been very, very wrong for a very, very long time.
HARBRINGERS OF DOOM. That sentence is incorrect.
HAR-BING-ERS OF DOOM. That sentence is correct. (Minus the hyphens, of course.)
Is it just me, or does "harBRINGers" make more sense than "harBINGers"??? I always thought it was harBRINGers, because it brings doom. Also, have you ever heard anyone say "harbinger" when it's not followed by "of doom"? Nobody ever says "harbinger of cupcakes" or "harbinger of a haircut". I can't even pronounce it "harBINGer", it just rolls off the tongue with that extra 'r'!!!
When am I ever gonna use that word anyway, now that Buffy's off the air. No one's a harbinger of doom on The O.C., except maybe Kaitlin Cooper.
(England is still awesome. Currently writing an essay on Piracy, which is why I had to check the dictionary for the spelling of "harbingers". Hmmm...I guess that means I *DO* use that word outside of Buffy references.)
