I Sing For You
1 new text from: Cook
.I have a surprise for you! : ) ~D
Cook nervously adjusted his guitar for the thousandth time. Tonight he was going to finally confess his love for Archie, and he was nervous as hell. Playing a few cords on his guitar, he tried to not focus on the large, (really large) butterflies, flapping around angry in his stomach,.(failing unsuccessfully). Cook jumped when he felt a hand on his shoulder, but it was only Neal, looking at him with a raised eyebrow
“Why so jumpy?”
“Sorry just nervous”
“Is Mr. American Idol nervous about a certain boy in the audience aye?” Neal said with a chuckle, earning a glare from Cook
“You better get your nerves in line, we go on in 10 and I don’t want to have to clean up any fucking puke” Answered Neal. When Cook didn’t laugh at his (lame attempt at a ) joke, he knew something was wrong.
“Hey, it’ll be okay, Archie would be stupid not to accept” answered Neal sincerely, patting Cook’s back as a way of comfort.
“Thanks man” answered cook, smiling at his former best friend.
“No problem, now get your ass on that stage, rock star!” Cook chuckled raising his hands up in a form of defeat. While Cook walked away towards the stage ( his guitar in hand and rock-star attitude trying to outweigh the butterflies) He could hear Neal laughing at his back. In no time at all the curtains were raising, and Cook was greeted with load sheiks from his fans, (as he took his place in front of the mike).
“Hello LA!” Cook yelled, earning another round of cheers (echoing off the walls and vibrating right in cook’s chest), as she looked out at the sea of people, all here for him. He couldn’t help but smile as he caught Archie’s eyes and saw that the man was grinning his wide goofy grin ( the one Cook loved and set his head reeling) so much his eyes filled with tears.
“How is everyone tonight?” asked Cook, before starting in on Avalanche. After a few songs, Cook knew it was time. He glanced at Archie one more time before pulling a stool up to the mike, taking a seat. (The butterflies increasing tenfold), Cook spoke into the mike ( playing with his guitar strap nervously).
“If you guys wouldn’t mind, I’d like to slow it down a bit.”
(Cook glanced at Archie while saying)
“this song is dedicated to a special person close to my heart, this is for you”
the quiet strumming of the song begin, and Cook smiled, keeping his eyes on Archie as he begin to sing.
I sing for you
And only you
Where ever I go I find you
As Cook finished the first verse, he searched Archie's face. Archie face was full of shock, his eyes wide, his expression unreadable. Cook swallowed his nerves and continued to sing his heart out (to the man he loved, the man he hoped loved him back). Keeping his eyes locked on Archie, not daring look away.
You're in the sound of every hello
In everything I do
You're the song I was destined to know
And I only sing for you
The auditorium was pitch quiet except for Neal’s gentle guitar and Cook’s voice echoing against the walls (wearing his heart on his sleeve)
You're in the sound of rain
Clouds in a winter sky
In a thousand unsaid words
In a thousand crazy reasons why
You were meant to fly
Closing his eyes Cook held the note, the silent pause over welling Cook’s heart. He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream, he wanted to jump off the stage and run to Archie, giving him a huge kiss right in front of the fans. He wanted to tell him, “he loved him”. Cook opened his eyes and chanced a glance at Archie. Archie's eyes was full of tears( happy tears)his eyes shining with happiness. But, most importantly, Archie's eyes was full of Cook’s answer, the answer to all of his prayers. Archie loved Cook back.
Nothing but love can stand in our way
but love can see us through
Maybe that's all I wanted to say
I will always sing for you
I will always sing for you
As the song ended and the audience cheered, Cook continued to lock eyes with the one and only David Archuleta, his ears and eyes death to the audience. One David had A big toothy smile, the other a silly, lopsided one, but both was unmistakably filled with love, and desire and passion. the audience continued to cheer, even giving Cook a standing ovation ( Archie standing up along side everyone else) but All Cook saw and heard was his love, his Archie, and Cook felt like the Luckiest man alive.
