Four times a week, in the morning, before school, I apply black polish to Emi's shoes, then buff them up with a brush. The other school day, she wears her sneakers, for sport. I'm not much into housework, but seeing the light reflect off leather buffed to a higher level is pretty satisfying stuff. It's also quite a meditative task to perform.
I polish my own shoes and boots also, but not so often. I polish my knee-high brown boots with this leather dressing that you have to leave on for a little while and then kind of buff off with a cloth, a bit like cleaning a saddle. They don't get a patent shine to them, but they have a warm, nurtured look. And they feel good. And so do I.
So, polishing habits please, peoples! Do you polish shoes? Your own, or others? How - and how often? Is it a task you enjoy? Do you get satisfaction from it?
