I am home

I got in the door a bit after midday, and discovered that Marcela had checked on the place very recently, and sorted post into piles, and laid in milk and biscuits. That is a good friend!

It's a colleague's birthday today so I logged on for long enough to wish him a happy birthday, and to learn that I had been missed, but could be spared until next week. Then to Waitrose for food, and slowly, slowly unpacking and stowing things, then at about 5.30 curling up on the sofa for a deep sleep with a fair amount of drooling. When I came awake I thought it must be 9 pm or later, but it was only 7. I should have worn gloves when I went to Waitrose, but otherwise I like the cold here, and the 4 pm sunset - it's cosy.

On returning home after other long trips, I've found that I wake up in bed on the first morning with no idea where I am, which is bizarre because I never experience that sort of confusion during the trip itself. It will be interesting to see if I get that this time.
