I am currently without a vehicle and I am up in East Kelowna. The nearest anything is an hour and to get down 'into town' is more like two hours respectfully. Now, this in and of itself does not bother me too much but

That is backward isn't it? You could write a letter (leaving out the terms shithole and buttfuck of course, LOL) to the newspaper and cab companies and anyone else who you think might listen and try to bring awareness to this issue, this might nudge the cab companies into thinking about their youngest customer's safety and comfort. Build a friendship with a specific cabbie you trust. If the company lets you request that specific driver, they will carry the child seat in the trunk for you. Call company management and say this is what you would like to do, maybe also set up a prepayed account--- give them a cheque for a hundred bucks and say you'd like to use that up. If you prepay, they will notice and go out of their way to help extra. But prepay the COMPANY, if the driver is shifty they might say they lost your money. If the management knows about it, it will help ensure honesty
