Rod Stewart week is next on American Idol. Let me just take you back in time to August 14, 1984. I was in love with INXS, but my mom wouldn't let me go to the concert because I was only 14 and it was at a tiny club in downtown Detroit. I was sulking in my room for about a week, when my friend called and said that her family had an extra ticket to see Rod Stewart on August 14 at a suburban outdoor venue. So of course my mom said I could go to that. I sat through the whole concert with my arms folded. I mean, come on. Let's put them on the hotness scale and see who comes out on top. Rod Stewart...or Michael Hutchence. Is this even a debate? Dude, Rod Stewart looked old even then, and that was 20 years ago! R.I.P. Michael.
Anyway, I will concede that Rod is a good singer and entertaining performer, if you like your singers to do costume changes every few songs. I'm off to check out his "standards" cds, which are apparently what the Idols themselves will be chosing from.
