Moving by Kelly Ramsdell Fineman: a Poetry Friday post

Mar 28, 2014 15:38

Many of you have been following my downsizing posts and recommending them to others, for which I am quite grateful. Also, very happy if the posts are of assistance to you as you clear clutter from your homes, whether you are going anywhere or not. I am especially glad to be of assistance to those of you who are readying yourselves for a move, wherever you may be in that process. (My sweetheart and I spent a full year on the decluttering/fixing-up process before I put my house on the market. I was lucky to be under contract within about two weeks--possibly not a coincidence.)

Today's original poem was one I wrote in early February, just after the first offer on the house was received. I thought it might resonate with those of you in the moving process, as well as those of you with just too many balls in the air (isn't that most of us?), even if they are unrelated to your physical space.

Moving
by Kelly Ramsdell Fineman

My move imminent,
I write to-do lists:

Packing
Unpacking
Painting
Flooring
Give-away
Keep

All the lists are now in motion.
I hope that I will stay astride,
not be knocked off my horse.
