At work

Today is a writing day, but I confess that I'm having a hard time settling my brain this morning. Nevertheless, I shall manage it because this is the last day in 2009 when I will have the companionship of angeladegroot while writing, since she's headed to the land of hobbits (New Zealand, as it turns out) this weekend ( Read more... )

It sounds like you're doing everything right, or at least, ahem, everything I would do. It is calming to write stuff down on lists, and I like to make them a bit elaborate so I get to cross out more. IE holiday cards: address, write, lick, stamp, mail.

I the plan for company. Once you sit with Angela, after decompressing over tea or something, and one of you starts to write, the other will just feel the need to join her. And then... keep on.

Happy holidays -- and give Angela my hopes for a great trip -- to where it is summer!

I'll let Angela know!

And I managed two new poems after writing my list, so I'm doing well.

...I had that secret formula that puts you in a place to write or create art or music.

I am doomed to the whims of the Muse. She comes to me at such weird times-like this morning at breakfast when she felt it necessary for me to write a poem to my dehydrated calf.

Although, I must admit the pressure of feeling I must have a blog post every morning-and sometimes on specific subjects on specific days-can sometimes force her out of hiding. Like it did for me this last Tuesday night when I was writing for my "Beatles-book."

I must remind myself to check back here for other creative's tips and secrets.

I like to do the crossword puzzle while drinking my coffee. Then I brush my teeth and apply a little lipstick. Really. (Hey, at least I'm not into the whole white suit thing).

Happy writing.

You know, Tom Wolfe. Wears a white suit while he writes.

I didn't know. Man - can you imagine the upkeep on a white suit? *wonders if it's a tailored men's suit or a hazmat-like jumpsuit*

I don't have any answers for you, but I'm going to spy on the comments you receive, in hopes of finding inspiration.

I usually ask Linda what she has accomplished workwise, for the day. This is usually at 8am, and her list of completed writing tasks stuns my butt right into my chair, where I begin feverishly trying to catch up.

I lost a comma in there. Sorry.

I don't know how she manages to get up at 4:30, let alone be coherent enough to work!
