Missing the retreat

May 07, 2009 13:29

Last week, from Monday until this time on Thursday, I'd written at least five Jane poems and at least seven non-Jane poems.

This week? I've got 2/3 to 3/4 of one Jane poem drafted, plus a rough down-draft of a non-Jane poem.

I miss New Hampshire.

That's a bummer... but you outlined the very reasons WHY retreats work so well. And being "back home" was not one of them.

But I suspect you'll find a groove and be back into "your form of madness!"

I suppose you're correct. But man, do I wish I were able to really hit my stride. A week in which I don't have even one poem completed yet (yes, still!) makes me feel like a slacker. And like I'm losing ground - what's the point of making all that progress last week if I'm just going to fritter it away this week?

Twelve poems in one week! That's wonderful! It might also be a big part of why you're feeling creatively drained right now. I'm sure you'll hit your groove again soon. =)

I wrote a draft of a non-Jane poem today and made no real progress at all on my Jane poem, which remains unfinished.

Man, do I love-love-love that picture. Thanks for the lulz!

It's not that I expected to write at the same pace here as I did there, really, since I don't have the same amount of writing time here as there. It's just that I'd kinda hoped that when I did have writing time, I'd actually, y'know, get some work product on the page. But I suppose I have been O.B.E. (overtaken by events).
