The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe

Yesterday, I spent about an hour and a half considering what poem to select to follow Porphyria's Lover by Robert Browning, and I couldn't pick - in part because I was trying to select something linked to a line or theme of the poem. Christopher Walken has the perfect voice for this, especially if you didn't grow up with Vincent Price. "The Raven" is the one of Poe's poems I remember appreciating when I was young and thought the rest of his stuff too sappy for words.

Without this, what would Terry Pratchett have possibly called his raven?

I'm certain that Vincent Price did. It's easily possible that Christopher Walken did as well.

It was perfectly charming otherwise - I shared a glass of wine (okay, we each had our own glasses) with Pat Lewis, then heard Dan Maguire read poetry (I read 2 new poems during the open reading session - and lo, they work. One of them was the West Laurel Hill Cemetery poem that you've already read.

Thanks so much for this! Wish I lived closer to Charlottesville or Austin, though.

(I once had a Bulgarian friend recite The Bells for me. Gave me a whole new appreciation of Poe, believe it or not.)
