I've either lost my mind or hit on a patch of genius

Really, my latest undertaking could go either way. My new project of an evening, after the writing time of the day has passed, and dinner is finished and cleared away, is to compile my own card catalogue for my Jane project sources. See, the thing is, I've relied on an awful lot of books - some of which I own, some of which I've borrowed from the library. Also, I've relied on scholarly journal articles that I've accessed through various sources and kept copies of. And I've relied on information available through pamphlets, newsletters, magazines and websites.

The thing is, I really should have it all available to me in some accessible fashion. I've started a spreadsheet (as I am wont to do), but it isn't quite working for me, for reasons I cannot articulate. So I have determined to go old-school, and create my own card catalogue. I even bought a filing-drawer sort of box at Staples in order to hold my 3x5 cards. I've decided to write up five cards per day at a minimum. On those rare evenings when there's actually something on TV that I choose to watch, I will be creating cards at the same time (at least during commercials). Maybe, once I've got the cards completed, I will finally get my spreadsheet right, but if I don't, I'll have a means of identifying and finding what I have. In the meantime, I get to pretend I'm a librarian (which was always a favorite let's-pretend thing for me when I was young - what I wouldn't have given for pockets and cards and a date stamp!)
