It is not all
warm weather and
Wee Free Men and
gnomish hijinks here in the desert. I've also been getting wee bits of writing done. For instance, yesterday, I wrote a
sijo (a la
Linda Sue Park). And the day before, I finished a first draft of one of my Jane poems - a sonnet in praise of Dr. Samuel Johnson, in which I managed to use the word "ignominy". I may have a scanning issue with the word, however, or so my dear friend and first reader tells me. I suspect she pronounces it the way that Webster's lists first (IGnuhminy), whereas I pronounce it using the variant (igNAHminy). This could be a wee bit of a problem, I'm thinking, since, being a sonnet, it's in iambic pentameter, meaning that the location of stresses is muy importante. So, dear friends, what say you (if it's a word you've ever said): IGnuhminy or igNAHminy?
