Tea with bread and jam, jam and bread

I've been a busy little elf, baking for Christmas, sewing for Christmas, writing lists for shopping and cooking and whatnot. So I've not been around all that much this week. Sorry ( Read more... )

OOOOOO!!! My favorites!!
We make a variant of those, which goes under the name of "Aunt Florence's Thimble Cookies" in my family (and yes, as a matter of fact, I *do* remember Aunt Florence, though she was an honorary aunt rather than a blood relative).
They are the *best*. The disappear within an hour, usually-- the whole batch. Our version leaves out the cream cheese (though they taste like they have some anyway) and adds a bit of almond extract. And those are our favorite jams, too(usually it's strawberry or black raspberry).
Good for you, posting the recipe!!

I love the name "Thimble Cookies". So awesome. Yours are more like almond shortbread, I'm guessing, since mine is really shortbread with cream cheese added. Sounds yummy.

Yes! I think I'm going to have to try yours. I was so surprised the first time I made these as an adult and realized there *wasn't* any cream cheese in them-- I'm thinking that if nothing else, it would probably increase the output of the recipe. And that would be a really, really good thing!

These sound like heaven personified. Must try them. I do love the combination of shortbread with jam, and then, tea, of course!

They are yummy. S, my older child, looked at them suspiciously, but after trying one she had at least half a dozen, and has declared them "the best." (Of course, she said that about the doo-doo cookies and the date-nut balls and the Lumberjacks, too.)

Yummmm! I really miss all the cool cookies we used to make when I was young. We made something similar to these (though yours sound better). Merry Christmas, Kelly!
