This and that
This I've finally gotten back to writing after a rather long writing drought -- funny how travel and children cut into that time. As a "prepublished" author, I have no deadlines, either. For the published folks out there, I have no idea how you write to deadline over the summer or, if you do a lot of school visits and public speaking engagements, how you manage to write if you've got a lot of those on your plate.
That J.K. Rowling has (allegedly) also gotten back to writing, not that I am personally convinced that she ever stopped. During the recent Deathly Hallows press cruss, she indicated that she was working on three different projects, waiting for one to claim her full attention. Late word out of Scotland is that she's writing an Edinburgh-based detective novel. (This from Ian Rankin, himself a writer of Edinburgh-based detective novels about Inspector Rebus and a set of thrillers (written under a pseudonym) about Jack Hardey.)
I'll bet that whatever she writes gets published before my Jane project, although I'd be delighted to be proven wrong on that point.
