Revision day

Oct 17, 2006 08:12

Today is dark and grey. One of those dim sorts of mornings when it's hard to wake up because it looks and feels like morning hasn't actually come despite what the clocks say.

It's the perfect sort of day for revisions. I have two picture book manuscripts that need a bit of tweaking. (Can I say that I can no longer use the word "tweaking" without thinking of Tom Hanks making air quotes around the word in You've Got Mail? Better than associating it with meth, I suppose.)

My subs also really need to get in the mail, since it's two and a half weeks since I got multiple requests for them, and I just got a no for my tiger story from one of my dream editors -- on the basis that it was too similar to another title they already have. Can I get a woo-hoo for that? My husband and kids don't really understand the publishing world, and so they didn't interpret that comment the same way I do. It's a "really close but no cigar, and not because of you" kind of answer.

A final, unrelated point -- when did LJ start underlining words it doesn't recognize, and can I make it stop?
