4 Charged In Death Of High School Student
Houston -- Four men have been charged with capital murder in the death of a Pasadena Dobie High School senior. Police say the student was killed in a murder-for-hire plot.
Eighteen-year-olds Steven Tridung Trinh, Huan M. Vudoan and Thuan Duc Vu are charged with capital murder. Also charged with capital murder is 20-year-old Michael The Tran. They're held without bail at the Harris County Jail.
Police say former Dobie students Trinh and Tran fatally shot 18-year-old Luan Cong Pham last month for about $46 after allegedly being promised $450.
Houston police homicide Sergeant Robert Torres says Vudoan had been a friend and classmate of the victim. Torres says investigators think he was the mastermind of the slaying and that Vu helped plan it.
Pham was scheduled to testify against two cousins who had beaten him up on campus. Torres tells the Houston Chronicle, quote, "As ridiculous as it sounds, this started over a girl."
I always tell myself to try not to sweat the small stuff and appreciate the bigger things in life. And sometimes I wonder what has the world come to.
