Score!

My local JoAnn's is closing. It's a smaller store, and I don't go there super-often, but it still kinbd of sucks since it's the only nearby fabric store. I went in today to see if there was anything I needed at their going-out-of-business sale. I was contemplating some of the half-off yarn and noted the specs on a couple, thinking I'd check patterns for yardage requirements and perhaps come back for a purhcase tomorrow. JoAnn's is not my usual yarn shop of choice, but I'm not one to turn down a good deal.

Then I heard it.

"Good afternoon, JoAnn's shoppers. We're having our last-30 minute special of the day beginning right now. All yarn is 80% off for the next half hour."

And so, of course,

It's mostly their private line, Sensations, which I've never worked with before. Some of it feels as cheap as it is, but some seems pretty good. All of this, of course, falls into the second catergory.

The specs:

"Thick 'N Thin", 75% wool, 25% nylon. 6 skeins each of two colorways at 49 yards/skein. This will probably become a couple of funky garter stitch scarves.

"Baja", "a stylish ladder yarn mix with depth and texture," 43% nylon, 29% acrylic, 28% cotton. 14 skeins at 54 yards each. It's a festive summer top waiting to happen.

Lion Brand "Landscapes," 50/50 wool and acrylic. 55 yards. They only had one in this colorway ("Rosegarden" - how could I resist?), but it spoke to me. I have no idea what will become of it.

"Smania," 65 % cotton & 35% nylon. 9 skeins at 104 yards each. More warm-weather knitting fun.

Finally, "Carlo," 60% cotton & 40% nylon. 10 skeins at 120 yards each. This should be a tank top, methinks.

Grand total, including the insane 9.25% Tennessee sales tax: $52.36.
Total yardage: 3,535.
Price per yard: about a cent & a half.

I was shopping with no idea how much I might need of any yarn, but there are still several skeins of some of these, so I could always go back and get more at half-off, or go to another JoAnn's & pay full price if need be. At the moment, I'm quite pleased with myself. :)
