Well this has been a fun 2 days. I've gone through my monstrous wardrobe, tossing out what is tacky and what doesn't fit. It's left me with 2 medium boxes of clothes. That's it. I've worked the past 18 years in clothing retail and I have 2 boxes to show for it. There are 9 garbage bags (30 gallon) in the living room, waiting to go to the clothing donation. Some plus-size women are going to look good in my $89 hand knit sweaters and $300 long wool coat(fire engine red). I know I could sell them on Ebay but I don't want to cart it back to Indiana with me. I want to travel lite and leave so much of me behind here in Chicago. Some stuff still had tags on it. I bought them to wear "when I lost a few pounds". Well, at the rate I'm dropping, I could have worn them for the past 2 weeks and then that's it.
New clothing store idea---Clothing rental for Gastric Bypass Patients. You come in, rent the clothes and when they are too big (in about a month), I buy them back (of course less the original amount). I would make a bundle. I'm worried about clothes for work. I'm not quite in my store's size range yet (they are coming out with plus-sizes next fall can you believe?) but I need to wear stuff to work ya know? I'm thinking drawstring is the way to go. I'm glad my mom is a seamstress. She's gonna be working. I kept a few items that I can't give up----lingerie (they can be taken in), my 12.99 black cocktail dress (it was such a steal and I can't resist the bottom of it...it really moves nice), my denim jacket, my "tight tiny tees" (now not tight or really all that tiny). I'm amazed at the loss of shoes in this whole process. My feet shrunk. However, I can now wear my Nordstrom penny loafers without suffering. I love those shoes. My Birkenstocks are really big. But I can't give them up, I've had them for 10 years.
Quite an interesting 2 days.
