She was gazing out the window when I entered the room. She did not flinch when the door opened nor did she seem to notice it closing.

"Hello," I ventured as I settled in my chair and opened my notepad.
I watched her eyes close as though her lashes were suddenly too heavy to hold up and I suddenly felt as if I were intruding.
She turned to face me and raised a hand to her forehead. She looked tired. 
"I'm sorry, Doctor," she breathed, dragging her hand down her face. In the short time it took her hand to move from her forehead to her lap, her face changed. She widened her eyes and smirked slightly. She became alert and sharp.

"Shall we begin?"
