Why is everyone always hating on indie music? There's some amazing stuff out there; it's not the musicians' fault that the recording industry's so screwed up that they can't get the same publicity as the big dollar acts.

I mean, if you haven't heard of the band, do some research. If you like it, listen to it. If you don't like it, don't. It's not that difficult.

Oh, no! I didn't mean to insult listeners to indie music; I simply find the act of only liking a band or musician for their obscurity to be rather pretentious. One should like music because they like it, not to seem superior to others.

Okay, yeah I find that pretentious too, though it kind of happens in every scene. Sorry for jumping to conclusions; I work in a music store so it gets really old hearing people complain about it over and over again.

It's no problem, I understand completely; what sort of music do you enjoy listening to?

Oh man, just about everything. Lots of Radiohead lately, since I just sprung for the discbox set. The Decemberists, because I listen to them all the time. I'm going to see the Cribs in Brooklyn at the end of March.

... Okay, this could go on for a while. Um, if you want recommendations just let me know what you usually listen to and I can suggest some stuff.

Oh, well! I'm quite the avid grunge/90's rock (I apologize if I get the terms incorrect, I simply turn up the volume of my speakers when bands I like are on, rather than try to understand how they're classed) fan, I will admit! Nirvana are an obvious favorite, as well as Soundgarden, the Pixies, Skin Yard. Also, I have a rather large fondness for Gilbert & Sullivan, though I don't suppose you carry anything similarly themed.
