Dream (or, maybe I've been watching too much Stargate SG-1...)

I have plenty of stuff to say about our vacation this past weekend, but that will have to wait till later or tomorrow. I woke up to a very vivid, very detailed, very interesting and cool dream and I wanted to share what I can remember of it here. I'm going to put it behind a cut because I expect it will be long.

well here it goes...

In the beginning part of the dream, I was sitting alone with m0nk3yboy, talking about relationships. The room was small and dark with one large window that overlooked some kind of small arena and a single entrance/exit. We were talking about my relationship with incarnate and whether or not I would break up with him to be with m0nk3yboy. This precise conversation has not happened in real life and will most likely not happen, but in my dream it was happening and I was trying to explain that although I loved m0nk3yboy very much, I was with incarnate and I was very happy and I would not give that up. In my dream this was a very calm conversation, a comfortable one amongst long time friends, but it was very long and drawn out, like a bit of a debate.

At some point this dream changed slightly and we were no longer talking about incarnate or romantic relationships, but we were still taking in the small dark room. I became aware that I was a rich and influential person of some kind on another planet in the Stargate universe. My people were at odds with the Guould System Lords but not openly at war. We were a fairly strong people, and members of our society would be chosen for gladiatorial battles against Jaffa. This would prove that whichever side won the battles was the stronger and thus determine which race had dominance over certain territories.

It seemed that the Guould was not the only race that used slaves; my race did as well. Or at least a slavelike caste. Whereas the Guould manipulated their slaves with lies about their godhood, and then also took an unwilling slave as a host body, forcing them to do terrible things while trapped in their own body, unable to act on their own, my race had servants whom we called slaves whom we sheltered and protected and provided for and whom in return worked for us in various (usually manual) capacities. These were more partnerships between the haves and have nots and were mutually beneficial to both parties, though I suppose there were probably isolated incidents here and there where the "owner" of the slaves were cruel and domineering of their slaves than the rest of us.

In any case, I had my own slaves or servants. Only one of them featured in the dream, and this was Scaara, played in the TV show and movie by my friend Alexis Cruz. Scaara in my dream was a sweet kid, happy to be of service and not-so-secretly crushing on me. I had taken him in after he had escaped from the Guould and he proved to be a very good fighter. (Well, i dunno, it was a dream...) Anyway, I put him through some intense training and he became one of the best gladiators we had very quickly. And yet he was still all Scaara; sweet, soft spoken, all smiles, a little shy. But he knew it was his job to fight the Jaffa and he was glad to do it.

So then, instead of discussing my relationship with incarnate, m0nk3yboy and I were discussing this slave boy instead. In my dream at this point, I knew that m0nk3yboy himself was a Jaffa and that like Teal'c in the show he had defected from whichever system lord he'd served to fight against them. m0nk3yboy asked me how good Scaara really was, and I said that he was good enough to take most Jaffa, and then after consideration I ammended that I thought he could take the Prime of whatever system lord we were fighting at that time. m0nk3yboy was of course a bit surprised by that, and we settled back to watch the fight in the arena below.

The fight was pretty quick. As I had predicted, Scaara was able to defeat the Prime Jaffa. It wasn't strenght that the boy had over the Jaffa, it was speed and agility and a sheer force of will and hatred for the Guould. He came out of the fight without much damage himself, and of course reported directly to me. I was fond of the boy, and as a gift for defeating the Jaffa, I let him sit near me and I ran my fingers through his hair and rubbed his shoulders a bit. Although the dream ended there, I'm sure I would have continued to show much favor to Scaara for his feat as I was very proud of him.

Weird, huh? :)
