Birthday Presents
Guess whose birthday it is? Severus Snape's, that's whose. He's 62 today.
(Oh, what do you mean, "he's dead"? Of course he's not).
Anyway, it may be Snape's birthday, but we're the ones receiving the presents. Here they are:
1. Not only have the reveals gone up at hoggywartyxmas, but we've also learned that the fest will be back next year for its thirteenth installment. Great news indeed.
Here are the reveals. Check out some of the fine works.
Every year, I try to guess the authors, and I was pleased with my score this year. Not counting the fics I beta-read, I guessed 11 out of 14 authors, including eldritcher, who wrote my brilliant gift. Of course I cheated a bit by eliminating options based on who had left comments, but I think next year, I might try to guess without checking the comments at all. This will be riskier, but fun. (Usually there are five or six authors whose work I can recognize at once, but others elude me.) I also identified all the artists, but I take no credit, since I know these fine artists' styles fairly well.
2. snapecase has started posting. If you're not familiar with the fest, it offers chronological stories in five different categories, each representing different decades of Snape's life. It's not an exchange or a prompt-fest; contributors simply sign up for one of the decades and write/draw whatever they please. I always enjoy it -- lots of inventive fics and art.
