(Slightly belated) Happy New Year to you all! Or as happy as possible, given the grim state of things. I'd say that 2021 is bound to be better than 2020, but I don't want to tempt fate. (I mean, I thought 2020 was bound to be better than 2019. So don't go by me.)
My family (Partner, Young Man, YM's girlfriend) had a fun New Year's Eve in Connecticut. YM got a new deep fryer for Christmas, so he tried it out by making Korean fried chicken and french fries for dinner -- delicious. We played charades and pictionary and just generally nerded ourselves out. Very restful and enjoyable.
I had planned to drive back to Rural Hamlet this week, but in terms of the virus, I'm actually safer in NYC than I would be at home (the infection rate is scary-bad there), so I'll stay put in NY for another month or so and see where we are then.
Recently, I've been entertaining myself by following several HP holiday fests.
Hoggywartyxmas, as usual, is superlatively good, and
mini_fest and
rarepair_shorts have been a lot of fun. I'll have a rec post soon.
I had also hoped to participate in a new fest, HP Sweethearts, which is a Valentine's Day version of the wonderful
hp_halloween: a 200-word drabble extravaganza. The list of allowed characters is pretty limited, so I'm not sure now if I'm going to sign up. (ETA: I signed up. It's only 200 words; I can manage.)
But my preferences are not everyone's, obviously, so you might really enjoy the options. If you like
hp_halloween and want to try the same for Valentine's Day,
you can sign up here through January 7. 49 different characters to choose from!
Stay safe and healthy, my friends!
