Some Summer Recs
I've had the chance to dip into several fun fests this summer. Here are a few recs:
femmefest -- Reveals have already gone up.
No entries this year with older women; most of the works featured different combinations of Luna/Ginny/Hermione/Pansy. I'm always fascinated by how differently, yet believably, the same characters can be imagined. It's like cooking: you can take the same basic ingredients (say pasta, tomatoes, chicken, cheese) and make many very different dishes.

The Elite Programme by Anonymous purplefluffycat (Alastor Moody/Rufus Scrimgeour)
Brilliant. I love this pairing. It's rare enough in itself, and seriously rare to see it this well done. Like all the best explicit stories, the sex is subordinate to (and serves) the characterizations. And what fine characterizations they are. The delicious premise is that Scrimgeour and Moody are partners in Auror training.
PS -- think of me in full Hermione hand-waving mode. I knew it! I knew it! I knew the author just had to be PFC.
Never Too Late to Cross That Line by Anonymous nightfalltwen (Minerva McGonagall/Madam Rosmerta)
Here's another fine story in which the sex is driven by and deepens the characterizations. Both Minerva and Rosmerta ring very true here; the story takes place in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Hogwarts.
